Fixing Fogged Glass In a Dual Pane Window

The seals on insulated glass windows occasionally fail, allowing moist air between the glass panes, where it condenses.  If dual-pane windows appear misty or foggy, it means that the seal protecting the window assembly has failed.

"De-Fogging" a dual pane window only removes the condensation between the panes to clear up the glass. This process does nothing to repair the failed seal that preserves the thermal properties of dual pane windows. In fact, the de-fogging process breaks the seal for good. This is not a reliable solution for repairing fogged dual pane windows.

The only way to fix a fogged pane of glass in your dual pane windows is to replace it.  When the seal protecting the window assembly has failed, the window unit must be replaced as it is longer performing its thermal protective duties. There is no quick fix or cheap alternative to repair fogged thermal pane windows.
